Dr. Anthony Leo McDermott, 82, of Hampstead, MD, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium.
Born September 28, 1928 in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony James McDermott and Mary M. Carroll McDermott. He is survived by Myrna Graham McDermott, his wife of 56 years.
Dr. McDermott , was an emergency room physician at Finley Hospital in Dubuque and a long time resident of Monticello, Iowa.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters Maureen Dawson of TX, Kelley Jankowski of MD, Shannon Smearman of MD, and Mary Dooney of NJ; his sons Kevin McDermott of Iowa, Sean McDermott of CA, and Patrick McDermott of MD; his 30 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday at the St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester with Rev. Michael Roach officiating.
Interment will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
