Avery Douglas Nunn, 95, of Red Lion, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home. Born on January 6, 1931, in Pulaski, VA, he was the son of the late Clayton C. Nunn and Maggie Mae Combs Nunn. He was the beloved husband of the late Gladys Evelyn Good Nunn, who passed away on February 11, 2026.
Avery was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1949-1958. Having been involved in logistics in many countries during his service, he proudly continued this mission to keep America’s supply chain moving as a professional truck driver for 60 years.
Surviving him are daughters: Patricia L. Nunn of Red Lion, PA, Johanna L. Shewan and husband David of DeLand, FL, Gen (Punkin) Jackson and husband Barry of Dallastown, PA, grandchildren: Christopher, Krista, Lexi, and great-grandchildren: Jacob, Ethan, Alanna, and Theo. He is also survived by his sister: Lamina Lucille Alt.
Avery was predeceased by his siblings: Francis Fay Nunn, Garland Lee Nunn, Joseph Clayton Nunn, James “Jimmy” Lyle Nunn, and John “Johnny” Clayton Nunn.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 31, from 11 am – 1 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm.
Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
