Barbara Olene Batz, 72, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017, following a 2-year battle with brain cancer.

Born January 14, 1945 in Palmdale, CA, she was the daughter of the late Olin Davis and Lena Mae McElroy of Seattle, WA.

Barbara was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Glyndon.  She retired early from Schlumberger Malco. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, sewing, reading, and shopping on QVC.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, John C. Batz; daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Danny Chisnell of Owings Mills and Michele and Mark Fuhrman of Rock Hall; son and daughter-in-law, John P. and Laura Batz of Westminster; grandchildren J.B. Batz, Erin and Ryan Stoner, Candace Batz, Kylie Chisnell, and Austin Chisnell; great-grandchildren Natalie Kline, Miles Fuhrman, and Michael Stoner; sisters Pat Latimer and Thelma Crews; sisters-in-law Georgene and Loretta Batz; brother-in-law David Bosley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sister Jackie Kirkey and sister-in-law Pauline Bosley.

The family expresses thanks to the doctors and nurses in the Johns Hopkins Brain Cancer Program for the good care given to Barbara.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A.  11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, where prayers will be offered on Wednesday, July 12, at 10 am. Interment to follow in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.
