Bernard "Bernie" Joseph Roche, Jr.

Bernard "Bernie" Joseph Roche, Jr., 82, of Davidsonville, MD, formerly of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Born on August 4, 1936, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Bernard J. Roche, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Ambrose Roche. He was the loving husband of Carolyn J. Freeny Roche.

Bernie was a self-employed, small town photographer in Reisterstown for sixty years. At one time, we thought he had done everyone's wedding in Reisterstown.  He always told the undertaker, "When you come to get my body, don't drop the camera!"  Unfortunately, he had to retire since his ailing health made it hard for him to stand.  He always said he was the luckiest man alive because he made his living with his hobby.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for sixty years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children: Mary Elizabeth Snee and husband Michael of Alabama, Mary Deanna Thode and husband Pierre of Florida, Sharon Marie Hood and husband Kyle of Hanover, PA, Bernard "Tony" J. Roche, III, and significant other Jan Zeller of Baltimore, MD, stepchildren: Connie Lynn Holler Mulder and husband Tim, and John Wesley Holler and wife Josi, both from Pennsylvania, 18 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughter: Ellen Marie Roche, and first wife: Deanna Pomory Roche.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 28, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm and Thursday, November 29, from 10-11 am, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am, with Rev. Louis Piel officiating.

Interment is private.
