Bernard Elmer Uhler, Jr. of Reisterstown, died peacefully in the care of his wife, Eula Mae, at Seasons Hospice, Northwest Hospital in Randallstown. He was 84. Bernie as many would call him, was the owner of Uhler Enterprise in Randallstown for 48 years along with his wife. He also spent many years as a truck driver and farmer. He served honorably with the U.S. Army in the Korean War earning the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. He was one of the original researchers for the constitution, bylaws and chartering of the Gamber & Community Fire Company which led to its legal corporation status in 1964. Bernie was a life member of both Mason Dixon Historical Society and Howard County Antique Farm Machinery Club. He was also a 25 year member of American Legion Post 116 of Reisterstown and a member of Maryland Motor Truck Association. He enjoyed taking trips with his wife and granddaughters to steam and car shows.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eula Mae, two daughters, Sandy Uhler and her companion Claude Rash and Barbara Uhler Ness and her husband John Ness, his three granddaughters, Melissa Caudill and her husband Jason, Jennifer Haslacker and her husband Alex, and Kallie Ness, two great granddaughters, Addison Haslacker and Natalie Caudill, five brothers, Paul E. Uhler and his wife Gloria, Robert E. Uhler and his wife Mary, Joseph R. Uhler and his wife Ann, James M. Uhler and Lester O. Uhler, his sister-in-law Dr. Mary E. Stong, and his granddog Lilly. He was predeceased by his parents Bernard E. Uhler, Sr. and Lillian C. Shipley Uhler.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 1st 2015 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills 21117. Services will held on Friday, Oct. 2nd 12:00 Noon at the family farm located at 5900 Mt. Gilead Rd. Reisterstown, 21136. Interment in Emory Chapel Cemetery with military honors.
