Betty Jean Merenda

Betty Jean Merenda, 87, of Littlestown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at her home. Born on June 26, 1935, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George Louis Beardsley and Ruth Cecelia Popp Beardsley. Betty was a graduate of Catonsville High School class of 1953.

Betty was a Coordinator at the South Carroll Senior Center (1998-2006). She was an avid bingo player, loved casino trips, a good movie, music, and singing; especially Patsy Cline.  She was a member of the Westminster Moose and enjoyed bowling at Greenmount Bowl.  Betty loved game nights with friends and always looked forward to beach vacations with the family in Ocean City.

She is survived by her daughter: Jean Cavey and husband Donald of Littlestown, PA, brothers: George "Dew" Beardsley and wife Jacki of California and Roger Beardsley and wife Marcia of Glen Rock, PA, and nieces and nephews: Luke, Stephanie, and Mark, "the good daughter", Terry Brady of Littlestown, PA.

She was predeceased by her son: Jimmy Kavalesky, and nephew: Ry Beardsley.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 1:00 pm at New St. David's Church Cemetery in Hanover, PA., on Impounding Dam Road and Route 94.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105, or to any local humane society.
