Betty L. Miller

Betty L Miller, age 86, of Manchester MD passed away at Carroll Hospital Center on July 17, 2017. She was married for 65 plus years to Charles I Miller who died in 2016.

Born in Sugar Valley, Carroll County on June 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Hannah Nora (nee Yelton) & Ralph J Laughman, and the sister of the late Kate M Garland.

Betty was an active member of Kirkridge Presbyterian Church and previously taught Sunday school, and volunteered at other organizations in the past that helped others. In her youth, she worked at the local canning factory, in Baltimore and at Springfield State Hospital but was primarily a homemaker to her three boys and a career military wife. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially at traditional holiday gatherings.  She also was involved with "Pounds off for Hunger" teaching others exercise at church, nursing homes, and senior citizen centers. She enjoyed traveling including extensive travel in Europe and the US.

Surviving are sons; Mark S Miller, Dwight E Miller, Wayne D and daughter-in-law Cathy Miller, all of the Manchester area; grandchildren, Gregory, Joshua, Matthew and Hannah; and great-grandchildren; Astoria Rose, Steven Lambert, and Alesia Penelope Ann. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday July 20, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9pm. at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A., 3296 Charmil Dr., Manchester, MD. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00am. at Kirkridge Presbyterian Church, 2236 Old Fort Schoolhouse Rd., Hampstead, MD with her Pastor Steven Badorf officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
