Blanche V. Rexroth Romeka, 97, passed peacefully Sunday, January 8, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of the late William "Bill" Stanley Romeka.
Blanche was an active member of the Gleaners for eighty years, a charitable group based on the Book of Ruth, whose purpose was to provide help to those in need.
Blanche loved reading the newspapers and books, writing poetry, babysitting her grandchildren, traveling to visit friends in Florida, and loving life in general. She was always writing notes and cards to friends and family and keeping in touch with long ago acquaintances. She was an avid Orioles fan and never missed a game on her little transistor radio. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was a jackpot winner, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving her are children: Virginia Lynn Capitello, Jane Eichel Chouinard (Jerry), Stanley Lane Romeka, and Steven Oliver Romeka (Bridget), grandchildren: Christy Eichel Trapp (David), Jon Gerd Eichel, William Gary Romeka, Michael Hathaway Romeka, Connor James Romeka, Matthew Lee, Crystal Lee, great grandchildren: Jackson, Hayley, and Charles Trapp, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Nelson Rexroth, Harry Rexroth, Kenneth Rexroth, Evelyn Shewell, Ralph Rexroth, and Verna Miller.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14, from 10 – 11 am at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3939 Gamber Road, Finksburg, MD 21048, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment is in Providence Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the church hall.
