Bo Shaffer

William Herbert "Bo" Shaffer, Jr., 82, of Hampstead died Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born July 4, 1928 in Carroll County, MD, he was the son of the late William Herbert Shaffer, Sr. and Dorothy Grace Hann Shaffer. He was the husband of Alice Saranda Hann Shaffer, his wife of 62 years.

He was a retired from Black and Decker as a machinist with 35 years of service. He was veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Millers United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, walking, golfing, fishing, and working outside.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons Kenneth R. "Smoke" Shaffer and Douglas S. Shaffer; his brothers and sister in law Earl F. Shaffer and Robert and Joan Shaffer; his daughter in law Sharon Shaffer; his grandchildren Ashley, Derek, Jason, and Robyn; his twin great grandchildren Luke and Alixis; and also survived by 6 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Ira Barr officiating.

Interment will be in the Hampstead Cemetery.
