Brenda Ruth Murray

Brenda Ruth Murrary, born February 9, 1949, on the family farm in Maple Grove, died on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas Ephraim Murray and Ruth Virginia Wink Murray.

She is survived by a brother: Ronald Thomas Murray of Hampstead, a nephew: Tommy Murray, a niece: Ginny Murray, and several cousins.

Brenda was a 1967 graduate of North Carroll High School, and a 1971 graduate of Western Maryland College with a BA degree in Mathematics education. She received her master’s in education from Western Maryland College in 1976.

She taught 8th grade math for 30 years in the Carroll County School System at Sykesville Middle and Westminster West Middle Schools. After retirement in 2001, she worked part time at West Middle School for 11 years.

Brenda was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, where she taught Sunday School and served on the church council. She enjoyed life on the farm and loved all the animals that were there. She also liked reading, doing sudoku puzzles, and attending her niece and nephew’s sporting events when they were young.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 22, from 10 am – 12 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will be held on at 12 pm.

Interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
