Bruce Robert Simpers, 73, of Ellicott City, MD, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at his home. Born on January 7, 1951, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Robert Berwager Simpers and Annie Catherine Patterson Simpers.
Bruce worked as a chemist and analyst for the Department of Defense for many years. He was an Eagle Scout, and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester. For many years he volunteered with the Maryland Red Cross, helping people in their hours of need, including traveling to NJ for assistance following a Nor'easter. He was a caller for square-dancing, which he did all throughout Maryland. He also traveled throughout the United States to call for square dancing, and even recorded several square-dancing CD's.
Surviving him is a brother: Glen Simpers and wife Bonnie, nephew: Scot, niece: Lori, 3 great-nieces, and 1 great-nephew.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 17, at 2:30 pm in New Lutheran Cemetery, Locust Street, Manchester, MD 21102.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Immanuel Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 739, Manchester, MD 21102.
Arrangements are by the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., Manchester, MD.
