Burnell Levere Grogg, age 92, formerly of Lineboro, died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, PA. He was the husband of Dorothy (Sellers) Grogg, his wife of 70 years. Born December 20, 1925 in Lineboro, Maryland, he was the son of the late Curvin and Garnett (Krug) Grogg.
He was a proud WWII veteran serving in the Navy in the Pacific with the amphibious forces aboard the USS Caswell. He worked in the communication industry and retired from Communications Electronics, Inc. in 1988. He was a past president and Life Member of the Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Carroll County Volunteer Fireman's Association and was honored in the Carroll County Fireman's Hall of Fame. He was a Life Member of VFW Post 2506, Hanover, and American Legion Post 200, Hampstead. He was a member of St. David's Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA. Burnell and his wife enjoyed many years of square dancing and traveling in their RV and traveled to all 50 states and Canada.
Surviving in addition to his wife is daughter Carolyn Phillips, and her husband Carroll, of Manchester, MD; Steven Grogg, and his wife Sher, of Dobbs Ferry, NY; and Janet Gross, and her husband Darry, of Hampstead, MD. He is survived by 5 grandchildren, Ketti McCarty, Matthew Gross, Kelly Gross, Shelli Grogg and Sean Grogg and 3 great grandchildren Kyle, Andrew and Jacob McCarty.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, and from 10am until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 11am at St. David's Lutheran Church, 1032 Musselman Rd, Hanover, PA 17331. Interment to follow in Lineboro Cemetery, Lineboro, MD.
