Calvin "Pop" Leighton Freeman, Sr. 87 years old of Owings Mills, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at his home. Born December 28, 1928 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Leighton Calvin Freeman and Marie L. Wiles Freeman. He was the husband of the late Norma H. Canapp Freeman.
He served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corp from June 1948 - June 1950 as well as U.S. Army from November 1950 - October 1952. He retired from the Baltimore City Fire Department in June of 1986.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Harry and Sue Freeman, Norma and Bill Bosley, Calvin Freeman Jr. and wife Cynthia, Michele and Dave Anthony and Jeff and Vivian Freeman, his brother Roland Freeman, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and spouse he was predeceased by his granddaughter Shannon Marie Bosley.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM
Interment in Lorraine Park Cemetery.
