Carolyn Marie Gleespen, 68, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at home. Born on July 30, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Francis Martin Lingner and the late Alice Carol (nee Kornrumpf) Lingner. She is survived by her husband Dennis Gleespen of 48 years, her three children and spouses, and seven grandchildren: son John Gleespen and wife Jill of Manchester, daughter Kimberly Graf and husband Shane of Manchester, and son Paul Gleespen and wife Sharon of Hampstead. Her surviving grandchildren are Madison Gleespen, Emma Gleespen, Blane Graf, Gracie Graf, Rilynn Graf, James Gleespen, and Quinn Gleespen. She was predeceased by a grandson, Joey Gleespen Graf. Carolyn is also survived by her two sisters Patricia Grimm and Sherry Bastress.
Carolyn was a homemaker and a longtime school bus driver/manager in Carroll County for over 30 years. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and spending time with her family. Bowling and playing bingo were her favorite pastimes along with playing one armed bandit machines at various casinos.
She was a life member of Manchester Volunteer Fire Company serving as Assistant Secretary for several years, along with volunteering at the annual carnival and hosting the yearly Fire Queen contest.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 11 am to 1 pm at ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A. 3296, Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. 21102.
A graveside service and interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Manchester Volunteer Fire Company, 3209 Main Street PO Box 416, Manchester, MD. 21102, or to the New Lutheran Cemetery, 1900 Harvey Yingling Road, Manchester, MD. 21102.
