Catherine "Chris" Holland was born to the late Dorothea Mildred and Charles Basil Christie on February 1, 1930 in Baltimore MD. She was the caring wife of Raymond Earl Holland, Sr., for almost half a century.
She is survived by children, grand-children, great grand-children, sister and sisters-in-law and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and others, who will miss her love and generosity, her humor, and the tough, yet lady-like spirit with which she faced life.
In her youth, Chris loved working for American Express Travel Services, and the associated travel. Appreciating the symmetry of math, she was employed, as a young mother, by Equitable Trust Bank in Baltimore Md. More recently she enjoyed Sudoku puzzles.
She was also an avid wordsmith, enjoyed reading, loved playing Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles, and at one point she dabbled in writing her own stories.
Throughout her life Chris Holland faced health issues head on, with silent, admirable courage, always having faith that God was on her side. On Friday, December 8, 2017, she 'went home' to her final resting place, with I'll Be Home for Christmas playing on the radio.
Whether known as "Mrs. Holland", "Catherine", "Chris", "Big Cassie", "Aunt Cass", "Mom" or "Grandma", without her, our hearts harbor an empty place with her passing.
We'll watch for her bouncing in the clouds.
