Charles Paul McConville, 94, of Hanover, PA, formerly Owings Mills, Md. passed away on December 10, 2021 at home surrounded in love by his wife and family. Born on September 14, 1927 in Baltimore, Md. he was the son of the late Joseph McConville and Mary Loretta nee Coates McConville and the last of 7 children.

After leaving Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore, to enlist in the U.S. Navy, Charles followed his brothers off to fight in the 2nd World War. Upon returning from war he was employed for years with the Baltimore City Fire Dept. at now disbanded 38 Engine before leaving and becoming a Letter Carrier with USPS. Known as "Charlie Brown the Mailman" or just "Charlie Brown" he endeared himself to the neighborhood for which he served and was loved by all. Charles was a Life Member of VFW Post 521 in Owing Mills, Maryland for over 60 years where he rose to the level of Post Commander, State Commander, State Adjutant, and served on numerous state and national committee's. He was also a member of the VFW National Honor Guard and presented the nations colors at 4 Presidential Inaugurations and numerous events at Arlington Cemetery. Awarded campaign ribbons for his service, he was also awarded The Prestigious Hall of Four Chaplains Legion of Honor Award, and VFW Lifetime Achievement Service Award. He was also a member of American Legion Post 116, AMVETS, Disabled Veterans, Past VFW District 7 Commander, and various social clubs. He last worked as a school bus driver for Baltimore County Public Schools. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife Patricia, are Son Robert McConville and wife Cathy, Daughter Christine Hartge and husband Robert, Son Michael McConville and wife Betsy, Son Edward McConville, Daughter Patricia McConville and husband Bobby, Son A. Craig McConville and wife Sheila, 15 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 15 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 16 at 10 am.

Interment to follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VFW Post 521 for the VFW National Home for Children.
