Chester Jordan Whitten, Jr.

Chester Jordan Whitten, Jr., 80 of Owings Mills, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, December 11, 2015 at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson. Born May 16, 1935 in Maryland, he was the son of the late Chester Jordan Whitten and Awbrey Leland Whitten Palmer. He was the husband of Pauline Ayers Whitten, his wife of 60 years. Years ago, he worked as a masonry teacher.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Chester Whitten, III and wife Cathy of Joppa, his daughter Amy Whitten of Owings Mills; his daughter-in-law Laura Whitten of Oskalossa, IA; his grandchildren Chester Whitten, IV and wife Felixia, and Rebekah Whitten; his step-grandsons David Neuer and Donald Neuer; his great-grandchildren Lucas Jordan Whitten and Fiona Lynne Whitten; his siblings Lawrence Palmer and wife Diane of Pennsylvania, and Penny Parker of Mississippi; and his brother-in-law Alan Torbit of Delaware. He was predeceased by his siblings Linda Faye Torbit and Wayne Palmer.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2015, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Living Hope Baptist Church, 14450 Old Hanover Road, Reisterstown, with the Rev. Chris Miller and Rev. Dr. David Le Blanc officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Whitten's name to the Living Hope Baptist Church, 14450 Old Hanover Pike, Reisterstown, MD 21136 or to the Parkinson Foundation, 200 S.E. 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
