David Michael Burke, 48, of Upperco, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Born Sept. 25, 1960, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Martin and Margaret Bechard Burke. He was the husband of Mary Jude Ehrman Burke, his wife of 28 years.
He was a CPA and CFO for BR-111, which was a hardwood floor distributor. He was a 1978 graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School and the University of Baltimore.
He was an entrepreneur and was active with the Reisterstown Recreational Council where he coached soccer, basketball and lacrosse.
In addition, he was a member of the Youth Outreach Program, where he served as a board member, and the Blue Chip Program, which gave the city youth summer jobs.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Maria Burke and fiancé Gregory Caron, and Elizabeth, Michael and Christopher Burke; brothers William and Timothy Burke; and a sister, Diane Miller.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, with the Rev. Michael Roach officiating.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Jackson Memorial Hospital by sending checks made payable to Jackson Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 012297, Miami, FL 33101.
