Dean Elton Hartloff, 94, of Pikesville, MD, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home. Born on August 20, 1931, in Hamburg, NY, he was the son of the late Gordon Stanley Hartloff and Laura Louise (Gould) Hartloff. He was the beloved husband of 72 years to Carolyn M. (Basl) Hartloff.
Dean was a veteran of the United States Army, formerly serving in Korea and training Korean soldiers in radar repair. In 1953, he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Cornell University, where he met his beloved wife. He was a sales representative for Labtronics, an electronics corporation, and rose to Vice President. After he retired and moved to Baltimore, he and Carolyn focused on renovating an older home in historic Sudbrook Park. He also had a keen interest in tracing his family's genealogy.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are daughters: Deana Lynn Karras, LeeAnn Scheuer, Holly Jean Jessen and husband David Lee Jessen, grandchildren: Sarah, Jessica, Alec, Emily, Erik, Benjamin, Ryan, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister: Elaine Gridley of Yuma, AZ.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law: Chris Karras.
Funeral services and interment are private.
Arrangements are by the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., Owings Mills, MD.
