Dolores Martin Sylvia

Dolores Martin Sylvia, 80, of Ocean View, DE, formerly of Hampstead, MD, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Columbia Cottage in Hanover, PA. Born on September 14, 1941, in Manchester, MD, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Martin and Clara Lang Martin. She was the beloved wife of 52 and a half years to the late Richard Thomas Sylvia, Jr., who passed away in May 2022.

Dolores graduated from North Carroll High School in 1959. After graduating, she worked with Koontz Creamery, and in her later years she worked with Sherwin-Williams. Dolores and her husband, Tom, married in 1969 and lived in Hampstead until 1996 when they moved to Bethany Beach, DE, to retire. They loved to travel together. In retirement, she enjoyed advanced cross-stitching, getting together with friends, and she also was active in Lioness Club.

Surviving her are siblings: Robert L. Martin and wife Karen of Hampstead, MD, Betty Schlitzkus and husband Pete of Ocean View, DE, Russell E. Martin of Hampstead, MD, Linda M. Martin of Hanover, PA and partner Sam Martin of Manchester, MD, and Peggy Wilhelm of Rising Sun, MD. She is also survived by nephews: Erich Schlitzkus, Andrew Wilhelm, Christopher Wilhelm, and niece: Lydia Schlitzkus.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, August 20, from 2-5 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102.

Interment is private.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
