Doris Jean Matthews

Doris Jean Matthews, 89, of Manchester, MD, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead, MD.  Born on July 24, 1934, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Russell Murray Klohr and Edna Mae Jones Klohr.  She was the beloved wife of the late Donald E. Matthews, who passed away in 1985.

Doris was a secretary for the State of Maryland.  She was a member of Reisterstown Methodist Church.  She enjoyed volunteering with the church, playing bingo, and cooking, especially with her granddaughter, Dawn.  Her love language was doing services for others; she was always willing to help.  Doris always loved spending time with her family.

Surviving her is her son: Keith Matthews of Westminster, and grandchildren: Dawn Brown and husband Rob of Manchester, Gordon Stebbings and wife Molly of Windsor, WI, Kinsey Matthews of Baltimore, and great-grandchildren: Garrett, Lily, Lowen, Carter, and Maxley.  She is also survived by a dear cousin and close friend: Kenn Sweeney, sister-in-law: Mary Lou Klohr, and former son-in-law: Kevin Stebbings.

Doris was predeceased by her daughter: Robin Matthews and brother: Richard Klohr.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 19, from 10 am – 12 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will be held at 12 pm.

Interment to follow in Druid Ridge Cemetery, Pikesville, MD.
