Doris Myers Smith

Doris Myers Smith, 94, of Westminster, MD, formerly of Hampstead, MD, passed Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. Born on June 2, 1924, in Alesia, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jacob L. and Ida Michael Myers. She was the wife of the late Ralph L. Smith, who died in 1952.

Years ago, Doris attended business school in Baltimore, and she worked as a bookkeeper for Walsh Fuel and Construction Company. She was a lifelong Lutheran, and an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Snydersburg, MD, where she held many positions within the church.

She is survived by her children: Louise Ellen Smith of Westminster, MD, and Larry Leroy Smith and wife Fran of Hampstead, MD, grandchildren: Leah Marshall and husband Rod of Manchester, MD, and Tessa L. Thomas and husband Ben of Parkton, MD, and siblings: J. Luther Myers of Westminster, MD, Janet C. Stillman of Buffalo, NY, and Richard E. Myers and wife Barbara of New Freedom, PA.

She was predeceased by siblings: Franklin L. Myers and Mary R. Bollinger.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, January 13, from 1-2 pm at St. Mark's Lutheran Church (Snydersburg), 1616 Cape Horn Rd., Hampstead, MD 21074, where a memorial service will begin at 2 pm, with Rev. Michael Adams officiating.
