Dorothy Ellen Bean

Dorothy Ellen Bean, 89, of Westminster, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at her home. Born on August 16, 1933, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Lillie Beach (Peregoy). She was the wife of the late James Lee Bean, Sr. who died in 1998.

Mrs. Bean was a Homemaker, and after raising her 5 children, she retired from Carroll County Public Schools after being a Kindergarten Assistant for 20 years. She was a member and volunteer at St. John's Leisters Church for many years where she was also part of the Sunshine Circle and Christian Singles. She enjoyed water aerobics, jigsaw, and crossword puzzles. Dorothy always put everyone else first.

She is survived by her children: James Lee Bean, Jr. and wife Debbie of Westminster, Frederick Raymond Bean and wife Rose of Finksburg, Douglas Edward Bean of Westminster, Robert Allen Bean and wife Debbie of Hampstead, and Bonnie Lynn Brittingham and husband Michael of Manchester, grandchildren: Jimmy, III (Caitlin), Travis (Kelly), Michael, Ken, and Jonathan, great-grandson: Sawyer, cousin: Mary Louise Fisher of Hereford, and devoted friends: Amy Brown and Nancy Boone both of Westminster.

She was predeceased by her sister: Una Holland.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. 21102.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. John's Leisters Church Cemetery in Westminster.
