Dorothy Mary Eckenrode, 100 years old of Catonsville, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Charlestown Care Center in Catonsville.
Born in Golden Hill, Dorchester County, Maryland on February 11, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Pauline Tubman Asplen. She was the wife of the late Clarence J. Eckenrode.
Mrs. Eckenrode was a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital. She was the oldest daughter, one of eleven children. All her siblings predeceased her. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters at Charlestown and an alumnus of the St. Joseph Hospital Nursing Group.
Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community, 715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville with Rev. Fr. Leo Larivee officiating.
Entombment will be in Druid Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, Maryland 21228.
