Dorothy Elseroad Martin, 89, of Hampstead, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover, PA.
Born April 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Elseroad and Ida S. Raver Elseroad. She was married for over 60 years to Elmer L. Martin who died in 2004.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School.
She was a life-long member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, Reisterstown and a friend of Trinity United Church of Christ, Manchester.
She was a member of the former General Federation of Women's Clubs of Hampstead where she served as secretary and youth art chairwomen coordinating for many years' youth art exhibitions throughout the GFWC district.
She was a 60 year member of the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, Lebanon Chapter No. 108 Order of the Eastern Star of Manchester, and a member of the former Hampstead-Snydersburg Homemakers and other civic organizations.
She enjoyed working with community service organizations to which she belonged, gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son Samuel D. Martin of Manchester and friend Linda M. Martin, Hanover, PA, daughter Sedonia M. Martin and husband Larry C. Martin, of Manchester, brother Homer O. Elseroad of Frederick and two beloved granddaughters Ida S. Martin and Mary Ellen F. Martin, both of Manchester.
She was predeceased by siblings Oneida Elseroad, Jennie Elseroad and Ober Elseroad.
Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and from10:00 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Rev. Lois Ann Fuller-Oler and Rev. Robert R. Rock officiating.
Interment will be at Hampstead Cemetery.
