Douglas Ward Matheny Sr., 88, of Hampstead, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead.
Born Oct. 16, 1923, in Tennessee, he was the son of the late Thomas Edison Matheny and Atha Martin Matheny. He was the husband of Jeanne Edwards Matheny, his wife of 65 years.
He was a supervisor in the steel strapping industry.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Ronald Ehrhardt, of Manchester; granddaughters Jennifer, Katie and Bethany Ehrhardt; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Ehrhardt; and siblings Lester Matheny and Betty Knowles.
He was predeceased by a son, Douglas Ward Matheny Jr.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parkwood Cemetery in Baltimore.
