Listen to Obituary

Earle Louis Miller, 80, of Snydersburg, MD, passed away courageously at his home, where he was born and spent his entire life, after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving children.  Born on November 10, 1943, in Snydersburg, MD, he was the son of the late Jesse Edward Miller and Anna Pauline LeGore Miller.  He was the beloved husband of 49 years to the late Norma Jean Smith Miller, who passed away in 2020.

Earle was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  He worked many years with the Maryland State Highway Department as a road inspector.  He liked spending time outdoors, cutting firewood, and working around the family farm. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and going to monthly get-togethers for lunch with his brother and sisters.

He was a life-long member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ in Snydersburg, where he held many different positions and responsibilities within the church, and he also served on the cemetery board for many years.  He was truly a Good Samaritan; Earle was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed.  His kindness touched the paths of many people and because of this, he will never be forgotten.

Surviving him are children: Dawn Smith and husband John of Salem, VA, Chad Miller and wife Christina of Hampstead, Todd Miller and wife Angie of Florida, Travis Miller, Justin Miller, and Trevor Miller, all 3 of Hampstead, and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings: Doris Blocher and husband Larry of Hanover, PA, Mary Lou Winter of Finksburg, Donna Jones of Westminster, Carla Frankin and husband Luther of Hampstead, Barbara Leedy and husband Cloyd of Hampstead, Jerry Miller and wife Sharon of Hampstead, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing Earle in addition to his wife are sisters: Jean Graf and husband Richard Graf, and Janet Lang and husband Ervin, and brothers-in-law: Nelson Winter and Lavere Jones.
