Edward John Linder Jr, 86, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Saturday, April 8th, 2023, at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM.

Born on June 24, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Edward John Linder Sr. and Estelle Sitwoski Linder.

In 1968, after falling in love with the Southwest, Edward (Ed) moved the family from Milwaukee, WI to Albuquerque, NM. He fell in love with the mountains, sunsets and mild climate there. From the time he was a young boy, he was fascinated by the Civil War and seemed to know every fact and figure associated with it. Ed was also a consultant for the Civil War Times Magazine and had articles published by them. We always told him he would have been an amazing history teacher as he could easily captivate an audience with his story telling abilities. Not having a formal degree, he was a self-made man who moved himself up the ranks of many corporations with his intellect, innovative problem-solving skills, natural supervisor abilities and determination to prove that he was the best man for the job. He often joked that his life degree came from "The School of Hard Knocks". He was an innovator in package design at Singer Business Machines and was recognized in Package Engineering and Factory magazines for his improved cost effective, space saving, innovative protective packaging solution for shipping business machines. Although Ed held many high-ranking positions with the City of Albuquerque, and previous jobs, he remained a humble man and an incredibly hard worker. Once retired Ed enjoyed golfing, relaxing and traveling. He also loved gardening and was especially proud of his palm tree that he grew from a seed taken from his sister's palm tree in Florida. He loved the arts, especially classical music and opera. He enjoyed filling the role of Treasurer for the Santa Fe Opera Guild for one season. He was athletic and played rugby with the Albuquerque Aardvarks well into his 40's. A Milwaukee man through and through, he enjoyed the occasional beer and a good cigar while watching golf and his beloved Green Bay Packers. Always willing to help family, friends or neighbors he was generous when someone was in need. Ed had a sharp wit and could be a real jokester. He was a true animal lover, especially to his beloved dogs over the years. Though he was a big tall man who sported an intimidating figure, he was a gentle giant at heart. Ed was not a religious man, but he confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior of his life. Despite his many achievements, his five children and many grandchildren, were the greatest joy of his life.

Ed leaves behind his children EJ, Nathan and Gregory of Albuquerque, NM and a daughter Maribeth (Christopher) Boyle of Hampstead, MD, Son-in-law Mark (Rhoda) Bowman of Virginia. Grandchildren Shanna (Emily) Bowman, Joshua Bowman, Geoff (Rebecca) Bowman, John Mark (Rose) Bowman, Rebekah (Kiffin) Irwin, Joseph (Mary) Bowman, Noah (Cecilia) Otero-Boyle, Simeon Boyle, Josiah (Kathryn) Boyle, Joel Boyle, Caleb Boyle, Elizabeth (Dominc) Hartman, Ellery Linder. Great Grandchildren Viola Hartman, Wyatt Graham, Evan Graham and Finn Bowman. Niece Kelly (Daniel) Aldrich and Nephew Todd (Jenny) Hein, Brother-in-law Dale Frenyea, and ex-wife Constance Linder.

He was pre-deceased by a daughter Lorena Lee Bowman and a sister Joyce Hein Frenyea
