Elaine Marie Hertsch

Elaine Marie Hertsch, 96, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Nova Springs Assisted Living in Finksburg, MD. Born on September 8, 1924, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Veronica Connolly Maisel. She was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Roland Eugene Hertsch, Sr., who passed away in 2005.

Years ago, Elaine worked as a cafeteria worker for Baltimore County Public Schools. Before WWII, she worked as a telephone operator, and during the war she worked as a typist at Glen L. Martin. She enjoyed ceramics, bowling, and playing softball for the "Glen L. Martin Bomberettes". She loved spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as Grandma or Grandma E.

Surviving her are children: Cynthia Bowen and husband Gene, Roland Hertsch, Jr. and wife Cheryl, Stephen Hertsch and wife Joyce, Sandra Hudgins and husband Wayne, and Pamela Cascio, 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister: Muriel Schatz. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law: Tony Cascio, Sr. and a brother: Herman C. Maisel, Jr.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, September 7, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, at 12:30 pm.

Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD.
