Eldred Marlene Ridenour Knotts, 93, of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord on Friday March 17, 2017. Eldred was a three year seven month resident of Long View Health Care Center LLC. Eldred was born February 19, 1924 in Rowlesburg, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren C. Knotts of 49 years and her son, Cecil Verlin Knotts. She is survived by her four daughters, Velma Shirley Knotts Garland/late Jerry W. Garland of Hobe Sound, Florida. Wilma Marguerite Knotts/Larry Kanow of Ocean Isle, North Carolina. Janet Sue Knotts Brooks/William Brooks of Anthem, Arizona. Kathern Levern Knotts Garland/Norris Garland of Hanover, Pennsylvania. Daughter in law Kay Christian Knotts Fishel of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Eldred was a homemaker, loved gardening, making quilts and cooking wonderful Sunday dinners for family and friends. She was a retiree from Black and Decker and attended Alesia Free Methodist Church.
Eldred was one of thirteen children, nine by the late John and Shirley Bolyard Ridenour. She is survived by one sister, Vera Lyla Clare Ridenour Moats/Ralph Moats of Reisterstown, Maryland. One brother, Blake/Nancy Ridenour of Rowlesburg, West Virginia. Two half brothers Delmas/Kathy Ridenour of Ellenton, Florida and Gregory/Barb Ridenour of Tunnelton, West Virginia.
In addition to her parents Eldred was preceded in death by her step mother, Margie Waybright Holyfield Ridenour. Two step brothers Raymond Holyfield formerly of Fellowsville, West Virginia and Robert Holyfield formerly of Akron, Ohio. Five brothers Clifford/Sylvia formerly of Michigan. John/Marie Ridenour formerly of Uniontown, Ohio. Edward, Donihue and Marion Ridenour formerly of Fellowsville, West Virginia and one sister Hilda Ridenour Sigley/Paul Sigley formerly of Montana Mines, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. on Friday March 24, 2017 from 6-8pm. and on Saturday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00am. with the Rev. Richard Reilly officiating. Interment will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
