Eldridge L. Martin, 83, of Manchester died Wednesday Sep. 15, 2010 at the Long View Nursing home in Manchester.
Born Feb. 8, 1927 in Upperco, he was the son of the late Carroll Howard and Elsie May Tracey Martin. He was the husband of the late Ruth Lee LaMotte Martin who died June 6, 2002.
He was a retired delivery man for Miller Gas Company and was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester where he had served on the cemetery board for 41 years.
He was also a life member of the Manchester Volunteer Fire Dept. where he had served as an officer for many years and was in the Carroll County Fire Department Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his children and spouses Bradley L. Martin and wife Iva, Stanley L. Martin and wife Sharren, Douglas L. Martin and wife Donna, Tamie L. Bloskey and husband Danny and Randy L. Martin and wife Patty all of Manchester; his sister Betty Groft of Westminster; his brothers Robert and Ivan Martin both of Manchester; and also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter Dawn Martin
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3184 Church St. Manchester with his pastor Rev. Matthew S. Schenning officiating.
A private cremation will be held at All Faiths Crematory and Chapel in Manchester, followed by a private burial in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 739, Manchester, MD 21102 or to the Manchester Vol. Fire Co., P.O. Box 416, Manchester, MD 21102 or Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
