Eleanor Burnham Rohde passed away peacefully on March 9, 2013, surrounded by her family at Carroll Hospital Center at the age of 78.
A Lutherville native and long time resident of Reisterstown, Eleanor was born in 1934 to John and Ruth Blucher Burnham.
Affectionately known as "Susie" among many family and friends, she graduated from Franklin High School in Reisterstown, MD in 1952.
After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Edgar Rohde, Jr. in 1954 and worked as a bookkeeper for Johns Hopkins Press. She later became owner and manager of the El-Car Motel, partner and office manager for their family-owned building construction business, but mostly, SHE WAS AN AWESOME WIFE, HOMEMAKER, MOM, AND GRAMMAW.
Eleanor was a long-time member and President of the G.F.W.C. Vaughn Woman's Club of Hampstead and later served as Secretary of the Franklin High School Alumni Association for over 20 years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ed, and their four children - Carolyn Orr and husband Dennis, Allen Rohde and wife Joan, John Rohde and wife Monica, and Harold Rohde and wife Dorothea. Eleanor will be sorely missed by her eight grandchildren; Dylan, Tyler, Guy, Wyatt, Jeffrey, Jenna, Michaela, and Isabelle, who all loved her dearly. She is survived by sisters Jane Laslett, Ruth Howard, Ethel Spencer, and Phyllis Bankard.
She was preceded in death by siblings John T. Burnham, Jr., Charles T. Burnham and Genevieve Tangney.
A celebration of life service will be held at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. in Owings Mills, on March 26th at 11am.
