Elizabeth "Liz" May Melton

Elizabeth “Liz” May Melton, 90, of Upperco, MD, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at North Pines Assisted Living in Manchester, MD. Born on October 7, 1935, in Owings Mills, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Sprinkle and Bernice Thompson Still Sprinkle. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late Vernon Hoyle Melton, who passed away in 2007.

Years ago, Liz worked as a secretary for J. Schoenman, a men’s clothing store in Owings Mills. She was a former member of Dover UMC and Boring UMC. She enjoyed baking and cooking, especially for her family.

Surviving her is her son: James “Jim” Michael Melton and wife Leigh, grandchildren: Rachael Checke, Christopher Melton, Vanessa Grimm and husband Ray, Matthew Melton, step-grandchildren: Ray and Ashley Richards, great-grandchildren: Tyler, Alexis, Emilee, and Carter, and step-great-grandchildren: Raylen, Peyton, Haley, and Lucas. She is also survived by her siblings: Robert Sprinkle and Shirley Pollack and husband John, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Liz was predeceased by her son: Vernon Lee Melton, step-grandson: T.J. Richards, great-grandson: Benjamin, and brothers: Herbert, Walter, and Melvin Sprinkle.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 19, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20, at 1 pm.

Interment to follow in Dover United Methodist Church Cemetery, Reisterstown, MD.
