Ella Mae Hoover, 87, of Dover, PA died Friday, November 07, 2008 at the Dove House in Westminster.

Born on May 24, 1921 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Fielder Dorsey Ireland and Mary Connolly Ireland. She was the wife of the late Eric Alvin Hoover, her husband of 52 years, who died on February 3, 1994.

Mrs. Hoover loved caring for her family. She was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church and was active up until her death at the Heritage Senior Center. She formerly had bowled with Violetville Owls and been active in the Ruxton Athletic Club.

Surviving are her grandchildren Michele Stein and her husband Philip of Dover, PA, Karen Gillan of Camp Hill, PA, and Debra Owings and William Owings of Hanover, PA; her great grandchildren Erin Stein and her fiancé Corey King, and Kirsten and Megan Owings; her great great grandchild Caydence King; her sister Mary Baldwin, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter and son in law Joyce E. and John R. Gillan, her great great grandson Micah King, and three brothers and one sister.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.

There will be no public visitation.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
