Ellen Louise Brooks

Ellen Louise Brooks, 87, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Cape Coral Hospital.  Born on February 2, 1936, in Oakland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Darius Payton Upole and Nora Ellen Pysell Upole.

Louise graduated from Franklin Senior High School in 1955. She was a proud member of the Lions Club and a proud volunteer at the Hospice of Garrett County, INC. Louise was very proud to have been a foster parent to many children from 1962 to 1972. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, puzzles and word searches. She was a huge fan of the late actor, John Wayne. Louise had a sarcastic sense of humor. If you asked her how she was her reply would always be, "fine as frog hair." If you asked how she was feeling she would reply, "with my hands."

Surviving her are children: Nedean "Dee" L. Fales, William Leroy Parrish, and Ruth Ellen Shiro, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and brother: William Marchel Upole.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 2, from 10 – 11 am, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Rd, Owings Mills, MD 21117, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am.

Inurnment to follow in Reisterstown United Methodist Church Cemetery.
