Ellen Wertz McGrew age 88 of Hanover, PA. formally of Manchester, MD. died Thursday Sept. 30, 2010 at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace in Hanover, PA.
Born Nov. 29,1921 in Lineboro, MD. she was the daughter of the late J. Samuel and Ellen Alice Wentz Wertz. She was the wife of the late R. Glen McGrew.
She was a housewife and a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, MD. She was past matron of Lebanon Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Manchester, MD., She was past president and had worked for the Carroll County Board of Elections. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, gardening and reading.
She is survived by her daughters and sons in law: Ellen M. and Jerry Parks of Chesapeake, VA. and Alice M. and Thomas Lasher of Williamsburg, VA. Sister: Mary Brilhart of Hanover, PA., Grandchildren: Steven Sr. and Shawn Parks, Kevin Stiffler and Kimberly Lasher and 8 great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by siblings: Merle W. and Jessie V. Wertz, Grace Wertz Martin and Carrie Wertz Elseroad.
Funeral services will be held at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. on Monday at 10:00 am. with her pastor Rev. Matthew Schenning officiating.
Interment will be in the Old Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. at the funeral chapel with an Eastern Star service at 7:00pm.
