Ernest Calvin Martin

Ernest Calvin Martin, 79, of Hampstead, MD, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by his family at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.  Born on December 14, 1945, in Hampstead, MD, he was the son of the late Raymond Russell Martin and Doris Naomi Bollinger Martin.  He was the beloved husband of Sharon M. Alban Martin, his wife of 60 years.

Ernest was a farmer who worked at the Lippy Brothers Farm, Southern States, Black & Decker, and construction for Elwood Rill. He was a member of the farm bureau and the North Carroll FFA.  In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family, antiquing for toy tractors, going to farm shows, and traveling.  He secured a grant for Westminster High's Agriculture program, and he once traveled to Puerto Rico to farm for the Lippy Brothers for 8 years.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are daughters: Dana Lorraine Martin and Aimee Marie Gladfelter, both of Hampstead, MD, grandchild: Alexander Martin Gladfelter, the apple of his eye, sister: Mary Elizabeth Martin Southers of Bel Air, MD, sister-in-law: Ardice Holbrook and husband Tom of Manchester, MD, and brother-in-law: Herbert Helman of Pikesville, MD. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ernest was predeceased by his sister: Marian Lynn Martin Elkins, and sister-in-law: Linda Helman.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, May 11, from 3-5 pm and Monday, May 12, from 10-11 am, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am.

Interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
