Ervin M. Lang, 76, of Hampstead died suddenly, Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born July 22, 1931, in Manchester, he was the son of the late Jacob O. Lang Sr. and Nettie Winand Lang Hunter. He was the husband of Janet L. Miller Lang, his wife of 56 years.
He was a staff sergeant in the Korean War.
He had been a machinist for Black & Decker. He had also worked for the Carroll County Board of Education until his retirement.
He was a member of Black Rock Church of the Brethren in Glenville, Pa., since June 6, 1944, and was a life deacon. He was a life member of the Korean War Veterans Association Inc., a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 467, in Westminster, a life member of the North Carroll Rod and Gun Club Inc. in Union Mills and a member of the VFW Color Guard and Firing Squad. He was also a member of the North Carroll Senior Center and played guitar in the Senior Moments Band.
He enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a brother, Jacob O. Lang Jr. of Upperco; and a nephew, Donald E. Lang of Manchester.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry Lynn Lang Nowlin, who died Feb. 4, 2005.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3864 Glenville Road, Glenville, with his pastor, the Rev. Melinda K. Carlson and the Rev. Donald Hubbell, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
