Ethel May Ayres Debelius, 94, of Hampstead died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born July 31, 1913, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William Howard and Ida May Thomas Ayres. She was the wife of the late Leslie Hiram Debelius Sr., her husband of 49 years.
She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for her husband's business Lewis Robert Inc. She was a Red Cross volunteer during World War II for Johns Hopkins Hospital.
She was a longtime member of Millers United Methodist Church and former member of Parkside United Methodist Church. She was the matriarch of her family of five generations.
Surviving are a daughter, Janice Lee Debelius Harding of Carney; son and daughter-in-law Leslie H. Jr. and Jeane Holbrook Debelius of Manchester; grandchildren Andrea Jean Farmer of Timonium, Michael Leslie and Tammy Sue Harris Debelius of Hampstead, and Brian Neil Debelius of Manchester; great-grandchildren Benjamin Perry Kraft of Parkville, Christie Brooke Debelius, Faith Brooke Debelius, Hope Brooke Debelius, all of Hampstead, and Nathanial William Debelius of Manchester; and great-great-grandchild Catlain Aleen Kraft of Timonium.
She was predeceased by son-in-law Walter R. Harding Jr.
A funeral service will held be at 11 a.m. Monday at Millers United Methodist Church, 3435 Warehime Road, Millers, with the Rev. Jeffrey Odom officiating. Interment will be in Millers Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
