Ethel Lorine Mathews age 98 of Hampstead, MD. died Tuesday July 16, 2013 at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester, MD.
Born January 2, 1915 in Maryland she was the daughter of the late Edward Martin and Barbara Miller. Twice married she was the wife of the late Stewart Keeney and the late Fulton Mathews.
She was a registered nurse, who started her career at Rosewood Hospital Center, and finished her career at Spring Grove Hospital Center. She was also a member of Manchester Baptist Church.
After her retirement, she traveled extensively throughout the world with many of her family members, friends and former co-workers. She treasured her family and hosted annual family gatherings for many years, as long as her health allowed. She was a devout Christian, and was the matriarch who held together a very large and loving family.
She is survived by her children: Roger Keeney and wife Maggie of Princes Anne, Kenneth Keeney and wife Mary Bess of Finksburg, Barbara Mediary of Pikesville, Walter Keeney and wife Betty of Millers, Mary Ellison of Hampstead, Ralph Kenney and wife Roxey of Delaware, and Sandra Frantz and husband Robert of Westminster. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by son in laws: George Curtis Medairy and Charles Ellison.
Funeral services will be held at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. on Friday at 10:00am.with the Rev. David Scafide officiating .
Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9pm. at the funeral chapel.
