Eugene Julius Tawes, Sr., 93, of Westminster formerly of Pikesville passed away peacefully Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Westminster. Born June 11, 1921 in Crisfield, he was the son of the late William J. Tawes and Ruth M. Blades Tawes. He was the husband of the late Ruth Naomi Hughes Tawes.
Mr. Tawes was a retired cable splicer for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company. He was a veteran of United States Army serving in during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion in Reisterstown.
Surviving are his children Eugene Tawes and wife Susan of Linthicum, Terry Smith and husband Daniel, Sr. of Westminster, and John Tawes, Sr., and wife Pam of Lineboro; his 6 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-8 p.m., Wednesday at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills where a funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Interment will be at a later date in the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
