Eugene “Gene” Elwood Yingling, 79, of Westminster, MD, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. Born on August 2, 1946, in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Earl Elwood Yingling and Doris Kolb Yingling. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Louise Yingling, who passed away August 10, 2024.
Gene was a graduate of North Carroll High School, class of 1964. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1966 to 1969. Years ago, he was a school bus driver for Schaffer Bus Service and worked at Black and Decker in the machine set up department. He then worked at the lumberyard as an inside sale representative until retirement. Gene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester and the American Legion Post 200 of Hampstead. He enjoyed watching and supporting the Orioles and the Ravens.
Surviving him is his son: Brian Yingling and wife Amanda of Hanover, PA, brother: Robert Yingling and wife Susan of Hampstead, MD, nephews: Jeffrey Yingling and wife Jen, Michael Yingling and wife Lindsey, Ryan Cole, niece: Ann Trent, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces: Colby Trent, Ava, Olivia, Evelyn, Lucy, and Max Yingling. Gene is also survived by sister-in-law: Carolyn Kittelberger and brother-in-law: Randy Cole and wife Leslie.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 9, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, and on Tuesday, February 10, from 10 – 11 am, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will begin Tuesday at 11 am.
Interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
If desired, donations may be offered to Immanuel Lutheran Church, P.O. 739, Manchester, MD 21102.
