Eva Redding Gebhardt, 98, of Manchester passed away August 10, 2026 at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Westminster. Born on February 6,1928 in Millers, MD she was the youngest child of the late Aaron and Florence (Kerchner) Redding. She was the devoted wife of William F. Gebhardt who passed away in 1986.
She worked at Random House and served many years as a volunteer at Trinity United Church of Christ in Manchester. Eva was very close to her family. Taking her grandchildren fishing, to sports practices and dancing lessons when they were young. She always wanted to help people, driving family and friends to appointments and groceries. She was an excellent cook, liked to garden and travel.
Surviving are her daughter Susan and son-in-law Jack Cooper of Silver Spring. Grandchildren Marcia Cooper (Marvin Adkins) Lusby, MD and Gregory Cooper (Christina Heddesheimer) Dallas, TX. Great granddaughter Eva-Grace, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers George, Whitmore (Sadie), Sterling (Beulah), Carroll—who was killed at Corregidor during WWII, Roy (Phyllis), Charles (Ruthette) and sisters Serenda and Anna (Russell).
The family will receive visitors on Friday, August 14, from 10:30 am – 12 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm.
Interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
