Evelyn Hughes Howard

Evelyn Hughes Howard, 92, of Westminster, MD, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Copper Ridge Nursing and Assisted Living Center in Sykesville, MD.  Born on August 18, 1931, in Finksburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harry Carroll and Elvie Maude Harry Hughes.  She was the beloved wife of Lawrence Frederick Howard, who passed away in 2016.

Years ago, Evelyn worked in the winding department at Black and Decker, she was there for 13 years. After retirement, she owned and operated a lighting and fixture business in Manchester. She enjoyed going camping and to Bluegrass functions with her husband, Fred. Evelyn liked participating in activities at the North Carroll Senior Center, and she was also a member of the Jammers Band, which sang at local senior centers and nursing homes.

Surviving her is a son: Birnie Carroll Harman of Westminster, MD, daughter-in-law: Diane Harman, stepchildren: Joan Mason, Linda Boit, Elizabeth Kemp, grandchildren: Amanda and Caitlyn, and sisters: Mary Alice Rosenberger of Westminster, MD, and Betty Young of Finksburg, MD. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son: Bruce Edward Harman, siblings: Harry Adam Hughes, Howard Carroll Hughes, Henry Hughes, Clara Virginia Beamer, Hilda Mae Miller, Annie Berkley Hoff, Helen Owings, and former spouse: Carroll S. Harman, who passed away in 1994.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 25, from 10-11 am, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where the funeral service will begin at 11 am.

Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
