Evelyn Elizabeth Miles, 91, of Manchester died Friday April 8, 2011 at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester, MD.
Born May 3, 1919 in Earleigh Heights, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Dawes and Hildagarde Gruhn Williams. She was the wife of the late Leonard Wallace Miles, who died in 1992.
She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester where she was active in the Women of ELCA, Women's Work Day, and Blankets for Linus Project.
She was a homemaker and years ago she was a dancer on stage at the Alcazar Hotel in Baltimore. At the age of 81 she received her high school diploma.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She was the last of her siblings.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law Evelyn and Charles R. Sennett, Sr. of Dover, PA, and the Revs. Norma L. and Matthew S. Schenning of Manchester; her 8 grandsons, 18 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3184 Church Street, Manchester with the Rev. Robert Maddox officiating.
Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 739, Manchester, MD 21102, or to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
