Frances Ellmire Mahanna

Frances Ellmire Mahanna, 80 of Westminster, passed peacefully on Tuesday May 10, 2016 at her home. Born Jan. 3, 1936 in Carroll County she was the daughter of the late Thomas Emory and Sarah Ellmire Allgire Shaffer. She was the wife of the late Charles Sterling Mahanna who died in 2012.
She was a housewife and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, baking, word puzzles and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Betty Lou Ruhlman of Westminster, MD., Charles Emory Mahanna of St. Mary's, MD., Carolyn Louise Dubs of Hanover, PA, Frances Arlene Kawecki and husband Kevin of Littlestown, PA; siblings, Patricia Bitondo of Washington, DC, Betty Jayne Nichols of Hanover, PA., Deborah Robertson of Westminster, MD., Edith Calhoun of Upperco, MD., Wayne Douglas Shaffer of Hampstead, MD., Regina Phillips of Hampstead, MD. and Chester Shaffer of Manchester, MD.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Charles, Jr., Stephanie, Joshua, Nathan, Amanda, Emily, Lydia, Roger Lee, Tyler, Nicholas, Anna, and Ian; great grandchildren Jacob, Jade, Kirsten, Tristan, and Grace, Dorothy and Adalyn. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings, Mary Buchman and Herbert Thomas Shaffer.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday May 13, 2016 at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester with a funeral service, Saturday, 10 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 3100 Shiloh Road, Hampstead with the Rev. Barbara Allen. officiating.
Interment will be in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hampstead.
