On April 6, 2009, G. LESLIE GRIMES, 89, of Cockeysville died after a long illness at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson.
Beloved husband of the late Mabel Grimes, loving father of Sara "Missy" Johnston and the late Allen Brown, grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 13.
Les was a Huntsman to the Greenspring Valley Hounds for 35 seasons. He came to Greenspring in 1946, after World War II, and retired in 1981 after a long and distinguished career.
Les had a special way with his hounds, which made him a brilliant huntsman. He was very much a true hound man and horseman.
Les was the only living person inducted into the Huntsman's Hall of Fame located in the Huntsman's Room at the Museum of Hounds and Hunting.
His horn, his voice, and the cry of his hounds will always be remembered by those who followed him.
A memorial service will be held at Greenspring Valley Hounds, 13920 Mantua Mill Road, Reisterstown on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Hunt Staff Benefit Foundation, c/o Masters of the Foxhounds Association, P.O. Box 363, Millwood, VA 22646.
