George Alvin Fleming

George A. Fleming, 98, of Hampstead, MD, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home.  Born on December 14, 1926, in Hampstead, MD, he was the son of the late Robert Brown Fleming and Myrle Estelle Leister Fleming.  He was the devoted husband of 67 years to Marion Elizabeth Overholtzer Fleming.

George was a lifetime farmer in Carroll County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.  He was a lifetime member of St. John's (Leisters) Lutheran Church, the Carroll County Farm Bureau, and the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, in which he was the oldest member.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are children: Katherine Ann Butler and husband John, David Alvin Fleming and wife Irene, Lynn Fleming Beard, and Amy Jean Fleming, all of Hampstead, granddaughter: Kari Kimmel and husband Brad, great-grandson: Franklin Kimmel, and grandson: Nathaniel Beard and wife Autumn. He is also survived by step-grandchildren: Josh and Cody Spevok, Shon and Chrissy Butler, Merilea Baltimore, Matthew and Tracey Butler, Miriam Beard, and Samuel Beard.

George was predeceased by his son-in-law: Dwayne Beard, and brother: Luther Robert Fleming.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 20, from 10 am – 12 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm, with Pastor Chris Litton officiating.

Interment is private.
