George Wetherbee Helfrich, 75, passed away on Monday, Nov 29th, 2010, after a tough battle with lung cancer.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of his life on December 18 between 12-4 at the Johns Hopkins Club.

Born on July 9th, 1935 in Baltimore, MD., George was the son of George and Eleanor Helfrich. He grew up in Catonsville and lived in Baltimore most of his adult life. He attended Randolph Macon Academy where he stayed active and attached over the years.

He graduated with a BA in accounting from Johns Hopkins University. He served his country and was honorably discharged from the military as a 2nd Lieutenant. For 48 years he was a successful realtor and land developer as President of G.W. Helfrich, Inc.

He was a Director at Security Title, President of Charles Village Business Association, and served in the Finance Committee Randolph-Macon Academy. He was also a Master Mason and member of the Boumi Temple.

George never really retired as his mind was always active and liked to keep busy. He read voraciously, he loved to travel.

He went on several cruises. He skied, he sailed, and he was a private pilot. He continued doing what he loved and lived his life to the fullest.

George is survived by his beloved, Katharine; his 2 sons from his prior marriage, Wilhelm and George, and 3 grandchildren, Lauren, Emilia and Wilhelm.
