George Miller, Sr.

George Miller, Sr., 85, of Millers, MD, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore City, MD. Born on August 16, 1940, in Millers, MD, he was the son of the late Maurice Ebaugh Miller and Mary Elizabeth Kaltrider Miller. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Mary Ellen Miller.

George was a 1958 graduate of North Carroll High School. After 40 years of service, he retired from the State of Maryland. He worked many years as a Carroll County sports official from pee-wee baseball up to college level. He was a lifelong member of Millers United Methodist Church, and a direct descendant of the founding father. The thing that gave him the most pleasure was hunting, George wanted to hunt or fish in every state before he died, he only missed 3 or 4. He was a charter member of the Manchester Hunt Club in Moshannon, PA, founded in 1967. George enjoyed spending time with family, especially time with his grandkids. The day before he went into the hospital, he was cutting and splitting wood, which he loved to do.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are children: Dr. George M. Miller, Jr. and wife Lori, Michael G. Miller and wife Chris, Steven L. Miller and wife Jen, Judy A. Holloway Mustard and husband Jim, 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother: Ralph L. Miller and wife Sue, and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by his parents, sisters: Carrie Edna Pinda and Linda L. Newman, brother-in-law: John Newman, and son-in-law: Brian S. Holloway.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, November 16, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 17, at 11 am, at Millers United Methodist Church, 3435 Warehime Rd, Manchester, MD 21102.

Interment to follow in church cemetery.
